Taking Split Shots - Tips and Technique
Underwater photography involves many types of images from wide angle to macro, but one of the most compelling can be split shots, or over-under photographs. Here, I outline some tips and techniques to take splitshots with a variety of camera equipment and when snorkelling, in rock pools or tidal pools, or at the end of a dive.
DiveVolk Housing & Using Smartphones Underwater
Underwater photography using smartphones such as iPhones is an accessible way to get into underwater imaging and film making, including for diving, snorkelling, or even in rock pools. Underwater housing and lenses such as from DiveVolk enable control over both photographs and video using the touchscreen through various apps.
Flowers of the ocean
Sea anemones, often called flowers of the ocean, are spectacularly colourful and diverse in coloration. Yet why they have such striking appearance is still largely unknown. They are a wonderful subject for underwater photography and those interested in wildlife and natural history.
Incredible sea slugs
Super colourful, often extremely small, sea slugs are a perfect subject for underwater photography and macro. We have a surprisingly large number of them in Cornwall, not just found when diving but also common in the rock pools. They also have some remarkable ways of living.
